How to update residency status, upload age and residency verification documents

Updated on

Many classes, events, and rentals on PARKS DIRECT have different fees depending on where customers live. Prince George's County and Montgomery County residents pay a discounted resident fee, 30 percent less than the non-resident fee. Anyone residing outside of the two counties pays a non-resident fee.

To be eligible for the discounted resident fees, you must first verify your residency and age.

Gather your verification documents

You must have one document from List A that verifies your residency and one document from List B that verifies your age.

If you are verifying your entire PARKS DIRECT household, you must verify every family members' age. Residency verification is only required once per household. For example, a household that's verifying four family members needs one List A document (for residency) and four List B (for age) documents.

List A documents that verify your residency include:

  • Driver’s license
  • Motor Vehicle Administration ID card
  • Utility bill
  • Lease agreement
  • Property settlement sheet

List B documents that verify your age include:

  • Driver’s license
  • Motor Vehicle Administration ID card
  • Passport
  • Resident/Alien card
  • Birth certificate with a raised seal
  • Baptismal certificate with a birth date and raised seal
  • Original letter from school on official stationery
  • Other government-issued ID

Hand in your documents in person

1. With your residency and age verification documents, go to any M-NCPPC facility in Prince George’s County.

2. Turn in your documents to one of the facility’s staff, and Parks and Recreation will begin processing your residency status.

To find the nearest facility that can help verify your residency, go to the link here.

Upload your documents online

From a computer, you need your documents saved as one of the supported file type (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .tif, or .pdf). From a smartphone, you can take a picture of your documents right before uploading them.

Uploading a document will not make an immediate update to your account. The Customer Service Help Desk will review and respond to you via email within three business days.

1. Go to www.pgparksdirect.com to begin uploading your verification documents.

2. Sign in to your PARKS DIRECT account.

First, select SIGN IN on the upper-right corner of the PARKS DIRECT home page. Then enter your username and password, and select the Login button below the login boxes.

  • In the Document Type box, choose Age Verification if you’re uploading a document that proves your age. Choose Residency Verification if you’re uploading a document that proves your residency. Each household requires just one residency verification document. Refer to List A and List B if you’re unsure of the type of document that you’re uploading.

5. Select Upload on the bottom left.

If you upload your documents using a smartphone, selecting Choose File allows you to use the smartphone's camera to take a picture of your documents.
