Refund and cancellation policies

Refund, cancellation and withdrawal policies vary by program. Please refer to your registration receipt or contact the Help Desk at 301-699-2255 for details.

Course withdrawals

  • You can withdraw from a course, also known as a program, online or in person at any staffed Parks and Recreation facility.
  • To withdraw from a program within seven days of its start date, you must contact the facility offering the program.
  • If you are withdrawing online, go to our article on withdrawals and cancellations.

Membership withdrawals

  • Memberships may only be withdrawn for emergency or medical reasons.
  • Documentation (such as a doctor’s note) may be required to process the withdrawal.
  • Requests must be submitted directly to the facility where the membership was purchased.

Proration

  • For most programs, prorated registrations and withdrawals are available.
  • Credits are issued based on the portion of time missed.
  • Proration is applied as account credit, not cash refunds.
  • Specific rules may vary by program or facility, confirm with staff at your program's facility for details.

Refund policy

  • If Parks and Recreation cancels your program, you are entitled to a full refund or credit.
  • If you withdraw from a program, in most cases you will receive a prorated credit based on the remaining number of sessions.
  • A 20% withdrawal fee applies, and credits are issued to your PARKS DIRECT account.

Rental cancellations

  • Policies vary by facility. Please contact the facility you’re renting from directly to learn about their cancellation rules.
  • Refunds, credits, or rescheduling options depend on the facility’s specific guidelines.

Summer camps and extended care

  • For summer camps, PARKS DIRECT charges a $50 withdrawal fee per child. However, if you withdraw or transfer within the first two weeks of your registration dates, no penalty applies.
  • If you withdraw from extended care, 20% of the original fee will be kept as a charge. The rest will be refunded as prorated credit.
  • Contact the facility or the Help Desk for assistance with camp or extended care changes.

Summer Playtimes and Summer Teen Centers

  • Withdrawals are non-refundable and non-transferable.
